Polly Caroline was born about 1856, probably in Perry County, Illinois since her father Thomas Throop bought land in Perry County in 1853 and 1854. Polly is a three-year-old in the family of Thos and Caroline Throop on the 1860 US census for Perry County. On the 1870 US census for Perry County, she is listed as Caroline, age 13.
On the 20 June 1876 Caroline Throop married Arthur W Jinkins in Perry County Illinois as reported in the Illinois Statewide Marriage Index. Data submitted by a member of the LDS Church at www.familysearch.org have Arthur born about 1836 and the Caroline he married born about 1840. This is an error confusing the older daughter Sarah Caroline (NG-039 who went by Sarah C.), with the younger daughter Polly Caroline. That this Caroline is the younger daughter is shown by the ages of Authur and Caroline both listed as 23 on the 1880 census and both listed as 55 on the 1910 census.
Beulah Nisbet assumed, "She had lived in Sugar Hill vicinity, for an old church record book gives among the ones joining the Sugar Hill church, the name of Caroline Throop back in the 1860s" Although Polly Caroline was living with her parents in Perry County in 1860 and 1870 and Sugar Hill Church is in Jackson County, this record would seem to refer to this Polly Caroline. The older sister was married in September 1860 and was no longer a Throop. Sugar Hill Church would be comparatively close to the land owned by Thomas Throop.
Arthur Jenkins and Caroline are living in Ora Township, Jackson County, Illinois in 1880. They have one child, a son Ruben who is three years old. Ten-year-old Sarah Troup is living with them.
I have not been able to determine how long they stayed in Illinois. Beulah Nisbet recalls, "She married Art Jenkins and they went to Missouri. They reared a large family and have many descendants in Southeastern Missouri." A son born about 1891 was born in Illinois.
I have only been able to find one record relating to residence in Missouri. On the 1910 US census, Arthur Jenkins and Caroline are living on a rented farm in Libery Township, Stoddard County, Missouri. Their 19-year-old son, Jinnar, and a nine-year-old grandson are living with them. Caroline reports that she has had 11 children of which 6 are still living in 1910.
Although according to Beulah Nisbet, Caroline "lived to be 90 years. Was buried there [Southeastern Missouri]", I have found no records after the 1910 census.
